We lived across the street in East Woodstock, when we moved there in 1965. The Lincoln's were one of the 5 houses closest to ours. When I was a teenager, I cleaned house for the Lincoln's on Saturday mornings and that is where I first learned about physical back/body braces as Steve's was usually hanging on one of the doors/doorways. Then, when I was in College my parents arranged my auto insurance with Stephen's agency. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Penny, who I also worked with in teaching, and the whole family.

My family moved to East Woodstock in 1965 into my great aunt's, Lillian May, house across the street from Robert and Hope Lincoln's house. We me met Steve not long after that. Robert & Hope hired me to mow their lawn for a few years. After that I took over a paper route for the Worcester Evening Gazette delivering papers to customers in the East Woodstock Village area. Steve Lincoln's was one of my customers and was my western most stop on Woodstock Road. I also delivered a paper to his folks. Steve and his parents were always cheery and upbeat. I treasured their friendship. Later on, when I got my first car, I got my auto insurance from Steve (Byrne's Agency). I also remember that Steve was a "Justice of the Peace". He performed a marriage service for my brother inlaw, and I'm sure many others. I know Stephen enjoyed doing those.

After having a job I didn't like for 18 years, I arrived at the Byrnes Agency Wooodstock office in the late 80"s with Steve as head agent. I stayed for nearly 30 years and not one day did I dread going to work. Steve probably could have won the world's title for being the most laid back and easy boss. He loved his customers and many of them knew him personally. He definitely was a people person! Inspite of his handicap, he went out to take pictures of houses he insured and often to view customers' claims. He wanted to be a part of what was going on. And complain?...rarely. As he aged, pain became more of a partner to him but that smile was almost always there and rarely did a word of pity pass his lips. He was a good man to work with and a good man to know. Thank you Steve for letting me be a part of your life all those years.

Ken and I always loved and admired Steve.
I knew Steve from childhood, and Ken from their days on the GOP town committee. He always greeted everyone with that big smile. Sending love and
sympathy to Steve’s family.
