Obituary of James Cohen
James "Scottie" Cohen, 19, of County Road, Woodstock, CT, died Thursday at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA, from injuries received in an auto accident. He was born December 5, 1988 in Brunswick, GA, son of William Larry Cohen and Gina M. (Keech) Cohen.
He has made his home in Woodstock since 2002, attended Putnam High School. Scottie worked as a cook at the Rustica Restaurant in Woodstock, and at Classico Restaurant in Chepachet, RI. He enjoyed fishing, music, cooking and always enjoyed spending time with his family.
He leaves his father: William Larry Cohen and his companion Deidre Arnold of Brunswick, GA; his mother: Gina M. Cohen and her companion Richard Newton of Woodstock; sisters: Sarah E. Cohen of Woodstock and her fiance Kyle A. Aldrich of Woodstock; brother: Robert G. Newton of Woodstock; his paternal grandmother: Willie Cohen of ST Simmons Island, GA; maternal grandfather: James H. Keech and his wife Janice of Ruskin, FL; maternal grandmother: Joan A. Keech and companion Gerald Bellerive of Dayville; maternal great grandmother: Rita Oleszewski of Putnam; uncles: Steven Keech of ST Simmons Island, GA; Rusty Cohen of Charleston, SC; aunt: Hope Choate of Rome, GA; his girl friend, Erin Droth of Putnam, He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather: Henry Russell Cohen.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
