Judy Gray Quattrucci posted a condolence
Dear Alva and family,
You and your husband were very dear to my father Dr. William Gray and Elizabeth H.D. Gray.
My mother had such fun sharing her video with you at your house. We celebrated her 90th birthday at a party on Martha's Vineyard in July 2003 with family and friends.
I am sorry for your loss.

It is with deep sorrow that we hear of the news of Russell's passing. Russell was not only a friend but an employer when I worked at the Putnam Savings Bank years ago. Russell loved talking and enjoying the company of people. He could always be found in a conversation, usually ending in laughter. We love you Russell!! The community will sincerely miss you. We wish Mrs. King and family strength and courage.

We were able to spend a little time with Russell at family events over the years. It was a pleasure to be around this kind and engaging man whose love of community and conversation was something you could really feel. Our warmest thoughts are with the King family.

When Dad died, Mom relied on Russ for advice and assistance. He never let Mom down, and he never made her feel this was any effort for him. He cracked jokes and made her smile at a time when that was the last thing she wanted to do. Dad had told Mom that Russ could be relied upon, and over the years Dad made this clear through the friendship he had with Russ. Mom probably wouldn't have made it as well as she did if it hadn't been for Russ King. I am grateful. The Kum-Two-Its were the best thing to come down the pike since sliced bread!

I would like to extend our sympathy to all of you during this time of grief.
A poem used in many Masonic Services is as follows:
There is a land where all are equal
We are hastening to it fast
We shall meet upon the level
when the gates of death are past
We shall stand before the Orient
and the Master will be there
to try the lives we offer
by his unerring square
We shall meet upon the level
and from thence no more depart
There's a mansion and a welcome
and a multitude are there
Who have met upon the level
and have been tried upon the square
Russell lived an exemplary life and through the years his wit and good nature have touched many. I am sure that our Master had no trouble trying Russ and he has been given a seat of Honor in that House not made with Hands, Eternal in the Heavens.
We shall miss him as a relative, friend and confidante.
