Obituary of Armand D. Montpelier
Armand D. Montpelier 87, of Woodstock Avenue, Putnam, died Sunday, August 10, 2008 at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was the husband of Anna (Mayo) Montpelier, they were married in 1982. He was born March 26, 1921 in Putnam, son of the late Ernest and Aurora Montpelier.
He worked as a security guard for over 25 years at the former Putnam Hertzel. He also worked for the Town of Pomfret Highway Department and Armand operated a small excavating company years ago. He had made his home in Pomfret most of his life moving to Putnam in 2002. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in West Thompson. He enjoyed dancing, auto racing, the Boston Red Sox, wrestling and Foxwoods.
He leaves in addition to his wife Anna, his daughters: Alice Bourbeau of Dayville; Rita Montpelier of Hooksett, NH; Carol Montpelier of Putnam; Susan ST Hilaire of N. Grosvenordale, sons: Eugene Montpelier of Voluntown; Frank Thompson of Putnam, brother: Raymond Montpelier of Dayville, sisters: Jeannette Corriveau of Fabyan, Blanche Lamothe of Putnam, Yvonne Remillard of Florida, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons: Robert Montpelier and Armand Montpelier, siblings, Francis, Ernest, Lionel, Arthur, Doris and Florida.
The funeral will be Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 10:00 AM from the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, Main Street, N. Grosvenordale. Calling Hours will be Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to his wife Anna for her assistance.
