Obituary of John R. Blake

John R. Blake, 83, of Chase Road Thompson, died Friday morning at the Matulaitis Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn L. Morris Blake. They were married June 5, 1948. He was born May 7, 1925 in Providence, RI. He was a maintenance mechanic working for American Optical and later for Frito Lay, retiring in 1987. Following retirement he worked over 15 years for Rawson Manufacturing. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Marine Corps, a member of the Cornerstone Lodge AF & AM, Thompson Hill Fire Department, the American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed working around his home and his yard and could fix anything. He leaves his wife Marilyn of sixty years, a son: Dr. Robert Blake and his wife Charlene of Guilford, two grandchildren: Bryan Blake of New York City, Elizabeth Blake of Guilford. Funeral Services will be Monday, August 11, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Calling hour from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Monday. Burial will be in East Thompson Cemetery.
