I really can't say I knew her that well at all. but during my 2 years learning karate I got to know her a little as she was one of the few people there I felt comfertable talking to; she's a wonderful person who seemed to always had a smile on her face. I wish I had taken the time to get to know her better.

a very special way. Nancy Friday I love you forever kid. I only hope when I grow up I will be just like you!

I knew Karissa from karate. She was always smiling, so cheerful, and she lit up a room when she walked in. I assumed she had cancer from the bandannas she wore to cover her head. I had no idea how long she had struggled with it and that struggle never showed whenever I saw her. She truly is an inspiration to everyone. I wish I was able to have known you better but I can truly say that the time that I spent and knew you--you truly changed my life. Thank you for that!

I remember the first time I met Karissa, it was in 5th grade, my first year living in Putnam, and I didn't have many friends. I just remember that she was good friends with some of the people I knew. We became best friends in 6th grade, and have continued to keep that friendship ever since. She was always a fun person to hang out with - I will always remember our "Reese's fight" that we had in my bedroom..I had mini Reese's cups under my bed until I moved! haha. I remember how her and I really bonded during Allison Howland's 6th grade sleepover. We used to always write each other these cute little notes during match class our Freshman year at Putnam and we'd always sign them with our lil "fruity" nicknames - Watermelon and Strawberry. We didn't care if it was childish. Even when I moved to Florida, Karissa continued to be a good friend to me - she was one of the few people that actually kept in contact with me when I moved. She was always there for me when I needed a friend - a voice of encouragement. Last summer when I visited Connecticut, we took our little traditional walk down to Deary Bros. and bought icecream. I remember afterwards that we went to Wal*Mart and goofed around with her mom and tried to hide from her when she was purposefully trying to embarrass us, haha. We had so many memories together, but not enough..I miss her greatly, and am sad that I was not able to see her one more time before she died. She will always be in my heart and memories - never forgotten. My thoughts and prayers go out to her mother Jen and the rest of her family and friends. I love you and miss you Karissa.
Love always,
Amanda Hampton

Karissa, you have always been so close to me, you were just like family. Thank you so much for every single moment you ever spent with me. It couldn't have been more amazing. I am so glad we met and so grateful for all the years with you as my best friend. You were such a big part of my childhood and teen years, and you touched my life like no one has before. I can't believe you aren't here with me now. You can't imagine how hard it is to say goodbye to you and to know that I can no longer see you or talk to you every day. I wish you were still here. I miss you terribly and will think about you every day. I love you so much Karissa! Best friends for all of time! Rest in peace.

I had the honor of meeting Karissa, one day, through my neice, Caitlin May. She and Karissa had been friends for most of their young lives. I felt as if I'd known Karissa forever by the way Caitlin talked about her. Every wonderful thing she told me about her, was every thing and more that Karissa was. I only hope I could have known her better... longer...

Karissa will always hold a special place in my heart. As a friend to my children, Nicole and I grew to love her as a daughter and thought of her as family. We have so many good memories to cherish. She touched all of our lives and I admire her strength and courage and will never forget her generous and caring nature for others. To Jen and family, I thank you for letting my family and I be a part of your lives and to let us share so many moments with Karissa.

I had Karissa during my first year as a teacher at Putnam High School. Karissa was a model student. At times during the school year, I would ask her how she was doing and her reply was " a little tired today".
Karissa had internal strength, determination and a "true fighter". Such a person will be missed!
