Obituary of Paul Joseph DeSimone

Paul Joseph De Simone, 70, died Friday afternoon May 23, 2008 at his home in Putnam, CT following a brief illness. He was the husband of Janet M. Smith. Born in Brighton, MA, son of Dr. Carl A. De Simone and Pauline (Chartier) De Simone. He was raised in Brighton, MA and graduated from St. Sebastian Country Day School in Newton in 1955. Mr. De Simone attended Boston College where he earned his B.A. Degree. He was a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He established De Simone Associates in 1971 working as a lighting Manufacturer's Representative for more than 40 years in the New England area. In addition to his wife Janet, he is survived by two daughters: Andrea De Simone-Rafferty and her husband Enrique Miras-Alonso; Julia De Simone Gagnier and her husband Kirk Gagnier; three step children: Alyson Aleman and her husband Karl Odden; Alex Aleman and his wife Marie Feanny; Eric Aleman and his wife Jamie Davis; seven grandchildren: Pablo and Ruben Miras-De Simone; Anson Nichols Gagnier, Alexander De Simone Gagnier, Evelyn Anne Odden, Olivia Gayle Aleman, Philip Alexander Feanny Aleman, his brother Carl A. De Simone II and his wife Cecelia, of Saunderstown, RI, sisters: Louise Magaldi and her husband Jim of South Easton, MA; Denise Jung of Brighton, MA, his lifelong friend Thomas Durkin of Cape Cod and his dear cousin Normand Chartier of Brooklyn, CT. He will always be remembered for his generosity, sharp wit, great sense of humor and culinary passion. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial Thursday May 29th at 11:00 at ST Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St. Putnam. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam.
