Obituary of Daniel S. Mullen

Daniel S. Mullen of Eastford, CT passed away peacefully at home on December 1 at the age of 59, after fighting a long battle with cancer. 

He is survived by his six children - Zachary (and wife Crystal) of Stafford, and his daughters, Sarah (22), Rachael (21), Andrea (20), Kiera (16), and Jessica (14) all of Coventry. Dan loved his family and worked hard to ensure they were well-supported and provided for.

Danny joined the US Air Force in 1984. He loved being stationed in places like Greece, Italy, and Turkey. After 5 years of active duty he served with the CT Air National Guard 103rd Air Control Squadron until retiring in 2005 with the rank of MSgt. During that time he started working for Verizon Wireless, then known as Bell Atlantic Mobile, and had been employed with them for the last 29 years.

Anyone that knew Dan knew how much he loved fishing and that he could talk about it for hours. From building fishing poles for his kids to tying his own flies, it was his favorite hobby. When he was younger he belonged to a cycling club and participated in races throughout the state. His love of cycling continued even after he got sick. His other hobbies included cooking on his smoker, being outdoors, and reminiscing with friends. 

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, December 13th, at Church of the Living God, 199 Deming Street, Manchester, CT. Calling hours will be 3:00-4:00pm, with a celebration of life service starting at 4:00pm. There will be a private burial on a separate date.
