I am brokenhearted to learn of Sheila’s sudden passing. My sincere sympathy to her children and grandchildren, whom she loved unconditionally. Sheila and I were scheduled to have lunch on Wednesday, November 20th at Hank’s (our monthly Writing Group meeting since August 1994). Instead, Penny Baril’s husband and I met to share memories of and to toast Sheila, just as Sheila and I did the day after we lost Penny, the other remaining third of our Writing Group, in July of last year. Sheila will always hold a special place in my heart, and I already miss her terribly. Praying for you all as you go on without her physical presence; thankfully, you will always have your cherished memories of time spent with her.

I met Sheila over the summer at Hank’s restaurant in Brooklyn. As I was battling breast cancer, she always had a kind word for me. She gave me a scarves that I wore during my chemo treatment. She was sweet and kind and will be missed. Rest in peace, Love Karla

I was her chiropractor years ago. She was a sweet woman always pleasant and always a smile though she did not like getting her neck adjusted! My sincere condolences to all. I'm sure she will be missed by so many.

Mrs. Johnson was very special to the class of 2002. I remember her taking us to look at various venues for our prom. It was so much fun to spend time with her. She will be missed by all but lived such an incredible life. May you all think of the wonderful things she did during your time of sorrow. My deepest condolences.

I met Sheila while playing trivia on Thursday nights at Murray's in Danielson a few years ago. We had so much fun with our little group of women. She was so smart and much fun to be around. I have missed her since trivia stopped when Covid hit. My condolences to all her family and friends.

I first met Sheila and Brian through a mutual friend Jean Rooney back in the 90's. Throughout the years Sheila was a smiling face to bump into and catch up with, never missing the chance to do so. She and Brian, and Mrs. Rooney, are spirits sending us hope and love. Cherish the memories.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Sheila F. Johnson.
I love & miss you Sheila Johnson. My wife Penny (Baril) and Sheila were best of friends and when my wife passed away Sheila was on the phone with me asking what she could do to help me and to help lessen my sadness. Sheila was a member of a writers group that my wife organized. The writing group members would meet once a month to discuss and share their work. As time marched on members started to drop out until there was a core membership of three ladies; Penny, Nancy Barry and Sheila. After my wife passed away the membership was down to only two. Knowing that I was grieving my wife Sheila called to invite me to join the writers group. I explained that I am not really a writer and Sheila replied “Good, you’ll fit right in”. How could I say no. So on the designated meeting date I arrived at Hanks restaurant on time and joined Nancy and Sheila. I asked Sheila why I would be invited and she explained that they could not stand to see the empty chair vacated by my wife. I understood at that moment that while Sheila and Nancy loved and missed my wife they also loved me and wanted to be there to help with my grieving process. Sheila knew how close my wife and I were. Sheila and I shared the knowledge that her deceased husband Brian and I were born on the same day in January. I think this fact explained why Sheila felt close to me.
When my wife was in the hospital fighting a terminal brain tumor Sheila was at the hospital to visit with Penny and to support my family nearly every day. Sheila is the most thoughtful person that I know. She and Penny would share rides traveling to western Pennsylvania to attend classes at Seton Hill working toward yet another Masters degree for each of them. Sheila would call me at home frustrated by the technology associated with her television program supplier and her Roku for streaming device. Sheila would also make Banana Nut cake for me because she knew that it was my favorite dessert. She was such a giving person and she loved to talk about her family and we could sense how proud she was and how much she loved each of them. I will miss sitting across from her at Hank’s and listening to her wide range of stories. Sheila was always quite the story teller. I will always love her for the wonderful caring person that she was. I miss you Sheila Johnson!
