Obituary of Suzanne Kress

Suzanne Kress, 61. passed away October 31, 2024. Suzy was born in Reading, PA, the daughter of John and Barbara Kress. She has also lived in Muskogee, OK, Thompson, CT, Auburn, Uxbridge and Worcester, MA. Sue was a sister, a niece, a cousin, an aunt, and a bigger than life friend. She graduated from Tourtellotte Memorial High School in 1985.  Sue was a regular camper for many years at Grotonwood Camp where she reconnected every summer with friends and counselors.  Sue was an active Olympian, competing in the Special Olympics well into her 40’s. Sue was an avid swimmer, and her many medals are a testament to her love of swimming.  Anyone who knew Sue always knew where to find her in the summer – “in the lake”!  When Sue moved to Massachusetts, she participated in many of the programs at Seven Hills, making sure everyone knew she was going to her “job”.  Other activities Sue enjoyed were bowling, Holy Cross dinner dances, dancing at the Kazbar, and Karate. She happily showed off her latest Karate moves to anyone who asked. She was an enthusiastic Pittsburgh Steelers fan and a Wizard of Oz aficionado.  Sue loved having her nails done and was always sporting her favorite bling – necklaces, rings and bracelets. Her smile was infectious, her friendship was life long and her spirit was the sweetest.

Suzy was predeceased by her father, John (1975), mother, Barbara (2011) and brother John (2023). She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Carla Kress of Littleton, CO; sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Frank Alwine of Milton VT, brother David Kress of Suffield, CT, and sister-in-law Sandra Kress of East Lyme, CT, as well as 8 nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews. Her passing will leave a hole in all our hearts.

Graveside service to be held Thursday, November 7th, 11:00am at West Thompson Cemetery, Thompson, CT
