Rodney Munger, 83, of North Grosvenordale, CT passed away peacefully at home on October 22, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born in Brandon, Vermont and was the youngest of twelve children.
Rodney was the beloved husband of Barbara (Webster) Munger for 63 years. He is survived by his daughter Lori (Munger) Bissonnette and her husband Aram Bissonnette, and his daughter Kristin Munger. He was predeceased by his son Mark Munger who passed away in 2023. He was a loving grandfather, affectionally known as “Pop “to his grandchildren Brittany (Bissonnette) Varone and her husband Fred Varone, Ethan Bissonnette and his girlfriend Ashley Inthaluexay, Ashley Munger and partner Matthew Burden, and Christopher Munger. He was blessed with two great grandchildren Lance and Sarah Burden.
For the past 25 years Rodney and Barbara would spend winters at their condo in Florida where they enjoyed warm days on the beach and beautiful sunsets at night.
Rodney worked at Wycoff Steel for many years until they closed. He was a lifetime member of the Quinebaug Volunteer Fire Department. He loved playing a good round of pitch or poker with friends. He enjoyed baking for his family and made the best whoopie pies, molasses cookies, fudge and crepes you’ve ever had. Rodney was an avid gardener, and he took a lot of pride in his many perennial flower beds and was even featured in an article in the Webster Times which showcased his beautiful gardens. He was a Jack of all trades and could fix anything that was broken. Even at the age of 83 Rodney loved to be on his computer checking his email and staying connected with family and friends who did not live close by. He was truly a gem to his family and will be greatly missed.
