He was such a kindhearted man. Always busy doing something and always there when anyone needed him. He will be missed by all who knew him. My thoughts, prayers and love go out to his entire family.

To a great father figure, friend and neighbor. There wasn’t a project I had that he wouldn’t lend a hand, share equipment, or give advice (providing the project didn’t include climbing a ladder). Mert leaves behind a legacy of kindness and friendship that will be forever remembered. His ability to connect with everyone and make them feel valued is the rarest of gifts. When the Hills moved a few years back, we couldn’t have realized how much we would miss them and all of the friends, colleagues and acquaintances beeping their horns as they drive by Mayor Mert’s home to say hello. As we bid farewell to Mert, I’ll carry forward the laughter and love he brought into our lives. We cherish Mert, Dot, Andrea and Corey for all the years we spent together. Your family is our family and will be in our thoughts and prayers.

We love you Mert. Mert was my neighbor for about 17 years. He was a mountain of a man in both goodness and strength. His smile would make your day. His laugh would melt away any concerns. He exuded kindness and friendliness like no other. Mert was absolutely one of the greatest men I’ve ever had the honor to know. We will miss him very much. God bless you Mert. And Dot - we love and are here for you for any reason at any time. You’ve both been so wonderful to our family. You have been a blessing to us. In this time of sorrow know that Mert will live on in our hearts forever. God bless. With love - Wendell, Beth, Dell & Sophie

To the entire Hill clan, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I remember when I would go to the Woodstock house and drive up the driveway. First thing Mert would say to me”ya know it’s not the Mass Pike out there”. He had a fantastic laugh that will never be forgotten.

I didn’t know Mert, but heard so many stories and memories from Andrea. She surely spoke highly of him as I see many others did also. Rest in peace. Jane Perron
