Obituary of Dorothy S. Davis

Eastford - Dorothy S. Davis, 94, went home to her Lord and Savior July 19, 2024 at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam where she resided for the past seven years.  Beloved wife of the late Asa Davis Jr, she was born in Putnam on July 10, 1930, daughter of the late Arthur and Vera (Bowen) Spooner.

After losing her mother at a young age and father couldn't take care of several young children, she went to live with her foster parents in Thompson until graduating from Tourtellotte Memorial High School in 1948. She made her home in Eastford where she held various jobs caring for children. Dot then met Asa and they were married in 1952 and were together until his passing in 2011. She was a homemaker raising her three children, 4-H Leader, enjoyed being on various Church committees and going to Bible Study. She was a member of the Eastford Baptist Church.

She leaves her children Betsy (Karl) Salo of Woodstock, Rob (Michelle) Davis of Pomfret, Ctr., brother Robert (Shirley) Spooner of Somers, step-grandchildren Denise LeSage and husband Keith Roe, Michael (Diane) LeSage, Christine and Matthew Dumas, step-great-grandson Jarrod Anderson, two nephews and one niece and their spouses. She was predeceased by her daughter Bonnie and her husband Edward “Archie” LeSage, brothers Arthur, Earl and three infant brothers.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Matulaitis, especially D-wing.
