Obituary of Walter R. Crabtree, Jr.
We bid farewell to our beloved father, Walter R. Crabtree, Jr. who passed away on June 9, 2024 at the age of 76 after a brief illness.
Walter was born July 20, 1947 in Putnam, CT. Walter was preceded in death by his father, Walter R. Crabtree, Sr. and his sister Susan Crabtree (Beausoleil).
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Denise Crabtree (Girard), and children Jeffrey Crabtree of FL (Kelly), James Crabtree of CT (Merry), Amy Brennan of CT (Andy Hooper), and grandchildren Reagan, Riley, Madison, Kyle, Molly and Sydney. His mother, Irene Crabtree and siblings Gail Daigle, (Gil) Betty Delhaie (Richard), Joan Carter (Vance), and Peter Crabtree (Sue).
Walt, an avid golfer with 7 hole in ones, was a long time member of Quinnatisset Country Club and 1989 Club Champion. He was also a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and the Putnam Elks Club. Walt was outgoing and always willing to lend a hand to those in need or less fortunate. Walt spent nearly his entire career as a machinist at Ivanhoe Tool and Die. After retirement, he taught and shared his experience as a Professor at QVCC. In his later years, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at Alexander’s Lake.
Following his wishes, there will not be a service, but well wishers are encouraged to raise your beverage of choice and drink in his honor. Walt, also wanted you to know, if he owes you a drink and you can find him in Heaven, he will gladly allow you to buy him another.
