Obituary of Robert Champoux

Robert "Snap" "Peewee" Champoux, 67 of Heritage Road, Putnam, died unexpectedly Wednesday at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Mechanicsville section of Thompson, December 11, 1940, son of the late Alcide and Aurore (ST Pierre) Champoux. He had made his home in the Putnam area all his life, an avid sports fan that included NASCAR, UCONN Sports, The Red Sox, The Patriots, fishing, and casinos. He was employed by Putnam Herzl for many years until its closing; he then took a position with Kenyon Industries in Rhode Island, retiring in 2005. He leaves his companion of over 30 years, Deborah Briere of Putnam, his children: Nancy Deslongchamps and her husband Kirk of Putnam; Ronald Champoux of Girard, OH; a brother: Roger Champoux and his wife Evelyn of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren: April, Sarah, Lauren, Ava, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT.
