Obituary of Virginia Bracken
Virginia Bracken of Highland Dr. Quinebaug, CT, died Monday at home at the age of 93. She was the wife the late Edward J. Bracken, he died March 15, 1991. She was born October 1, 1914 in Greensburg, PA, daughter of the late Charles C. and Adah (Stockburger) Hile.
She had made her home in the Quinebaug section of Thompson since 1989, formerly of Madison, CT. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Woodstock and also attended the Putnam Baptist Church. She enjoyed working with crafts, and for 18 years she was a volunteer grandmother at Thornfield Hall in Thompson.
She leaves a son Donald E. Bracken of Summerville, SC; a daughter: Kathy Bracken of Thompson; her grandchildren: Todd; Tammy; Jenna; Mark; Beth; her great grandchildren: Tiffany; Mackenzie; Courtney; Amanda; Amy Beth; Ryan; Rachel.
The Funeral Service will be Friday at 11:00 AM in the Putnam Baptist Church, 170 Church Street, Putnam. Burial in West Thompson Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Thornfield Hall Recreation Program, PO Box 415, Thompson, CT 06277 or The Putnam Baptist Church.
