Edward L. Adams, Jr. “Roy” 88 of Eastford went home to be with the Lord on July 15, 2023 surrounded by his family. Roy was the beloved husband of Irene (Brekke Oakley) Adams, his wife for 20 years. He was born September 16, 1934 in Providence, RI, son of the late Edward L. Sr., and Emma (Spencer) Adams. Roy enjoyed his years as a Boy Scout and later served in the United States Air Force for 4 years from 1954 to 1957 in Communications.  Two of those years were spent in Puerto Rico during the Korean War.  Roy was a member of the American Legion (Post 203) and always participated in Eastford’s Memorial Day celebrations. Roy worked as a Master Electrician at Pratt & Whitney in Hartford for 30 years. Roy’s priority was spending time with his family and was a caring husband, father, “Grandpa” and “Bestefar”.  He loved gardening, traveling, camping, canoeing, kayaking, swimming and working with his model trains. He could fix anything and was generous in helping others with projects. He was an avid Uconn Women’s Basketball fan and went to many games over the years. Go Huskies! Roy and Irene were active members of the AMC hiking club where they enjoyed hiking many miles of CT trails with friends. Roy was a member of Eastford Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees. He was also a Sunday School Superintendent/Teacher, church electrician, and assisted with facility maintenance. In addition to his beloved wife Irene, he leaves behind his cherished family. Children: Mary Adams Dennison (Herb York), David Hutchins (Kathleen Murphy),  Linda (John) Wesolek, Erik (Sharon) Hutchins; grandchildren: Nikki Holway, Ryan Holway, Ben (Debra) Hutchins, Lindsay (Nate) Vincent, Ryan (Casey) Hutchins, Glen Hutchins, Zachary Wesolek, Kirsten Wesolek, Erika Wesolek, great grandchildren: Annabella Gonelli, Freya Hubbard, Ryden Hubbard, Oliver Vincent, Isla Vincent, Luca Vincent, niece Carol Fooks, nephews Jeff Sandness (Patty), Jonathan Sandness (Sharlene), cousin John Buell (Joan), son-in-law Robert Huesser and daughter-in-law Donna Campagna (Ralph). Roy was predeceased by his first wife Marilyn Buell, she died in 2001, daughter Deborah Huesser, son Chuck Hutchins, sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Orrin Sandness. Roy was truly the “Light” of our lives. A Memorial service will be held Friday, July 21, 2023 at 5:30 PM at the Eastford Baptist Church, 133 Union Road, Eastford, CT.
