Obituary of Vito J. Leo

Vito J. Leo, 76, of Danielson, CT passed away January 18, 2022 at W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT. He was born on September 8, 1945 in Putnam, CT, son of the late Joseph and Maria (Leo) Leo.
He graduated from Killingly High School and Central Connecticut State University.
He was a writer for The Norwich Bulletin, The Reminder/Broadcaster, wrote sports stories for Mansfield Today, covered all things UCONN as well as town news. He also published a book about UCONN football; Sudden Death: UCONN Football’s 2009-2010 Improbable Odyssey. Vito was a very religious person and avid church goer. He was a very generous person to those in need. He loved his family and dogs very much.
He leaves behind his brother Pasquale Leo of Moosup, CT; his sister Lucy Ashmore and her husband Joe of Danielson, CT; his Godson Joseph Leo and his wife Julie of Moosup, CT; his nieces Patricia Thibeault and her husband Ken of Davie, FL and Lisa Imhof and her husband Patrick of Westerly, RI; nephew Ronald Ashmore and his wife Annie of Pembroke Pines, FL and his ten great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law Marie Leo.
Calling hours will be Friday, January 28, 2022 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will Follow at 10:30 AM in St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Thompson, CT.
