Obituary of Edith Elizabeth "Betsy" Erickson

March 1, 1932 – January 19, 2022


Betsy Erickson passed away peacefully at home with her beloved cat, Pawsy, by her side on January 19, 2022. 

Betsy had lived most of her life in Eastford. She graduated from Woodstock Academy in 1950. She then went to college in New York where she graduated in 1952 with a teaching degree. She taught kindergarten in Scotland, CT before marrying her high school sweetheart, Herbert Erickson. They lived in the Waterbury, VT area and later Billerica, MA for many happy years before Herb had passed away suddenly in April of 1974.

After losing Herb, she moved back to Eastford where she would remain these 47 years. 

She was a spiritual woman who lived a good honest life. She had a way of bringing out the best in people as she gave of herself unconditionally. She enjoyed Boston Celtics, UCONN Men's Basketball and Baltimore Orioles, The Olympics,  Jeopardy, her daily scripture, Norwich bulletin, baking cookies n coffee cake, Friendly's, family time, and good friends.

She leaves behind her son, Jeff Erickson and wife, Debbie and family Johnny Mullen and Pat Noonan;  Christine Bahosh and husband Todd, all of Auburn, MA, daughter, Jill Erickson and fiancé Steve St. Amant of Eastford, CT. Granddaughters; Heidi Thompson and husband Tim, grandson Chad Riley of Willimantic and her great-grandchildren Grace and Timothy "TJ" of Plainfield, CT and Molly Pelletier of Moosup, CT. And lastly, many nieces and nephews all over the United States.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Herbert; parents Oliver and Gertrude Bowen, sister Nancy Bowen,  brother Russel Bowen and wife Grace, brother Charles Bowen and wife Peggy, brother Spencer Bowen and wife Arlene, son Jay Erickson; grandsons Bryan Erickson and Brad Riley, in-laws Evan and Carrie Erickson, dear friends Jackie West of Montpelier, VT and Ellen and Art Curtin of Billerica, MA. 

Please join us for a celebration of Betsy's life at Eastford Congregational Church, 8 Church Road, Eastford, CT on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 3:00 PM followed by light refreshments.
