Obituary of Arthur P. Nichols

Arthur P. "Nick" Nichols, 60, of Center Road, Woodstock, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening at the Windham Memorial Hospital. Beloved husband of Linda (Petersen) Nichols; they were married April 23, 1966. Born September 10, 1947 in Bridgeport, son of Wilfred and Edna (Garlick) Nichols. He worked as a Plumber/Pipe Fitter at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford for over forty one years. Nick enjoyed playing golf and had played at local courses and many across the country. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Boston Red Sox fan. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He leaves in addition to his wife Linda, his children: Bernice Martin and her husband Brian of Norwich; Greg Nichols and his wife Joy of Dayville; Julie Lackey and her husband Brian of North Pole, Alaska; his brothers: Rex Nichols of Thompson; Ralph Nichols of Middletown; his sisters: Hazel Slye and Betty Erskine both of Abington; Lois Racine of Southbridge, MA; Sally Nichols of Bourne, TX; his beloved grandchildren: Talia Nichols and Melody Lackey; and his dog: Poppy. He was predeceased by his siblings: David Nichols; Richard Nichols. A memorial Service will be Tuesday, November 20th at 11:00 AM in the Church of the Good Shepherd, Bradford Corners Road, Woodstock. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, PO Box 5022, Wallingford, CT 06492. Arthur was a tissue donor.
