Sorry to hear about Armand's passing. I regret only knowing him for a brief time, but in that time he told me how important the role his family played in his life.
I want to thank him for his friendship and salute with a glass of scotch (Glenlivet his brand) in his honor.
Thanks for the good memories!

Armand was a great story teller and was always a hit at the Danielson Veterans Coffeehouse. He enjoyed being in the presence of fellow veterans and looked forward to Tuesday morning when he could attend. In his later years he realized that he was sort of an ambassador for his fellow brother veterans that are no longer with us and tried to attend and participate in anything celebrating being a veteran. We will miss him dearly.

We are both deeply saddened by Armand's passing. Our memories go back to 1975 for his daughter Wendy's wedding. Armand then said to me, "Peter has good friends." I last saw Armand in November 2019 when Peter and I took him out to dinner. On the way back home, he said, "Peter has good friends." Deja vu! We will never forget the wonderful picnics at Quaddick and the cookouts at his home. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I remember uncle Armand and aunt Elsie having big cookout at the lake and all the family being there. And I am sure my mother Beatrice O'Connell and her family now in heaven are either playing cards or dancing up a storm. He will be sadly missed.

My dad, Ed "Skee" Tostanoski, always spoke of Armand with the "love-ship" that only war can forge between men. It was sad they wound up on opposite coasts, but dad always looked forward to seeing and being with Armand during the reunions he was able to attend. Now God bless, they are together again, shipmates forever. -Ed Jr.

My Dad, Captain Eugene N. Foss, was the skipper of the USS Emmons and involved with all of her naval exploits from the time her keel was laid at the Bath (Maine) Iron Works, until she was sunk at Okinawa. Dad (and “Winnie”, my Mom) had no better wartime friend than Armand Jolly! Like him, Dad never spoke about his wartime experience and he was not physically demonstrative; until, that is, he attended an Emmons Reunion. He would hug Armand and kiss him on the cheek and they would hang together and relate war stories I had never heard. It was a bro-mance!
Rest In Peace, Armand, and give Dad and Winnie big hugs when you meet up in Heaven!

I have known Elsie and Armand all of my life-one of my earliest memories is Armand trying t teach me to water ski at the lake...My parents knew and loved them both and I am sure are welcoming them with open arms. The memories of their love will keep you all safe and warm in the difficult days to come. I hope we can join you in remembering them both at a future date-till then we will be thinking of you all often .

Armand at the Navy Memorial in Normandy. He was the center of light, remembrance and gratitude in his return there last year. He had a profound effect on everyone and was the portrait of selflessness, patriotism, bravery and kindness. I was blessed to share the experience.

Joe-
Truly you made it possible for Armand to be an ambassador from the greatest generation to be in Normandy as Armand is an eternal part of history and couldn't have had a better man to be there last year with his son Dennis and his wife Donna. My gratitude and appreciation to you and your firm having Armand experience that monumental occasion. He was a loved respected man along with his wife Elsie and will be sorely missed. Respectfully submitted-

Donna and Dennis, having devoted a good deal of my life over the last decade and more honoring the service of veterans, especially those of The Greatest Generation, I followed with great interest your stories in recent years honoring Armand, and I admired him greatly from afar. He was clearly a very special man, as so many from that wonderful generation were and still are. Your social media posts chronicling your trip with him to Normandy was, for me, some of the most engaging content I've ever consumed on Facebook. I feel as though I knew Armand, thanks to you. His life, the way he lived it, and his service to our nation are gifts to each and every American. For me personally, and on behalf of the organization I am proud to represent, House of Heroes Connecticut, I offer my gratitude to Armand for his service and sacrifice, and my most sincere condolences to you and your entire family. God bless.

Dennis and the Jolly family-
On behalf of myself and the Riel and Pelletier family formerly of Chaplin, CT and Woodstock, CT, I extendour heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved father, grandfather, relative and dear friend to so many near and far, ARMAND JOLLY. As I have known Armand and Elsie nearly all my lifes existence as he and my stepfather, Patrick Riel (1931-2020) had a working and later personal friendship spanning over 65 yrs as employees of the Connecticut Department of Transportation dating back to early 1955 at the former North Windham (CT) facility. As you recalled earlier this year when Patrick passed away (2020), they shared many adventures and misadventures working in rigorous climates rain, snow, sleet, hurricanes, floods and tornadoes, always making sacrifices to keep roads clear for right of passage, sometimes even on holidays away from home. Armand and Pat had a friendship in which they shared their work ethic, passion in interests and their families which the longevity of respect remained for their remaining years. As the greatest generation is fading from our landscape which many of their counterparts were post war era veterans, their contributions with many projects throughout the Northeast Connecticut landscape remains to this present day. Armand was a real deal of a gentleman in every facet, survivoralist through childhood years through the depression, honorable service in the US Navy in World War 2, being a loyal consummate family man and staying in touch with a changing society he maintained his humble beginnings lifelong. He along with Elsie were a fabric in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut with unselfish service to community, state and nation and their legacy will live on for all eternity by all who knew them, as they are united again in life everlasting. I, for those who view my tribute to Armand, want to make a special mention to both Dennis and his late daughter Wendy, both of them and their families gave their parents a beautiful sense of unconditional love, care, support which both Armand and Elsie were notably proud of having such loving children and legacies to be passed on for generations to come. And with that said, thank you for sharing both of your parents with all of us as they made a great difference in many lives young and elder for many years. Armand, your unselfish deeds and service to your family, friends, community, state and nation will be rewarded in a better place. Anchors aweigh, sailor. Your shore patrol is over. Rest in peace.
Respectfully submitted-
