Don Aper posted a condolence
Ernie,
2 weeks have passed since you left us and it seems like a dream still. I'll miss our long talks we would have on the phone when I was "behind the windshield", rolling across Wyoming. My biggest regret was that we didn't get a chance to take you on the long trucking trip you so wanted to ride along with. Well, You are there with me now rolling up those long miles in the middle of the night. Trust me, we are still gonna talk to each other for as long as I truck. I'll miss you more than I will know.

I met Ernest when camping on his farm. There was a sudden storm in the middle of the night, and he drove out to rescue us in his truck. It was certainly a surreal event!

Ernie was an amazing man. He cared so much about his family and friends, You always knew that he would be there if you needed him. My father was close to him and if he knew my father then you knew that he was special. I remember him helping us hay and getting the hay in before it rained. He will always be in my heart. God bless the family Love Kristina Sevcik-Barnes

In 1989 - 1996 my family and I lived nearside Ernie at 114 Perrin Road. While building our small home on a lot Ernie did not want our home built on, I was able to get to know Ernie much better as we dealt with wetlands and building associates. We had ups and downs - but as time went on I knew there was something very special about Ernie and it was about the values he believed in. Often during the summer while coming home late (from mowing lawns or clrearing wood lots after work) Ernie would wave while driving his Famrall or JD and working on his field he loved to do so much that bordered our property. Eventually he stopped at the fence to chat, and he never missed the chance to pick my daughter up in his arms to have fun with her. Beth was less than 3 at the time, and she still remembers Ernie meeting her at the fence. Those are very good memories. As time passed I had life changing events, and once Ernie heard about the news he was the first to embrace my needs. Ernie provided me a roof over my head in one of his appartments - Ernie wasn't loking for financial gain - he was sincere and was looking out for me, my daughter Beth and son Matt. I'll never forget his offerings. Ernie was the kindest hearted person I knew. This is only one example I share of Ernie's willingness to help others and his sincerity. His love of nature, working outside and making improvements to his property could be heard each time he spoke. This and his family was his priority. Ernie always kept his values in line.
I will miss Ernie, our talks outside his barn sitting on a hay bale. Ernie will be deeply missed by Beth and Matt...to the amount most will ever believe. Ernie was a model for others to follow - and a model that know my children refelct on.
God bless you Ernie and thanks for all the kind things you've said and done for me and my family. Perrin Road is my memory lane, and you'll always be a part of my memories.
Tracy and Kelly, Beth and Matt

My fondest memories of Ernie growing up in Connecticut were his hard work and dedication not only to his wonderful loving family but the strength both physically and emotionally of his person. His land allowed him to be in his own world working and preparing it for the day he would leave it to his family. Though Ernie and I were not real close, he will forever be a landmark in my soul forever.
May my Aunt Mary, Cousins Donald, Lynn and Laura see peace from the passing of their family’s patriarch. May they all live their lives even closer now together as I am sure that was Ernie greatest wish.
May God have mercy on his soul!
