Obituary of Paul Bernard Gauthier

Paul Bernard Gauthier of Farrows Street, Putnam, died July 8, 2007 at Day Kimball Hospital following a brief illness. Born on August 3, 1920 in Plainfield, son of the late Sylvio & Justine (Pennella) Gauthier. He attended St. James School and Killingly High School. Paul wed Lillian (Fisher) Gauthier on February 3, 1946 to whom he was married for 61 devoted years until she passed earlier this year. They have one son, Thomas Paul Gauthier of Chicago, IL. Paul was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army 479th Air Service Group, and was honorably discharged in October 1945 with the rank of Corporal after a tour of duty in Europe. He received a B.S. from Bryant College in 1948, and was employed for 40 years at Belding Corticelli in Putnam, working in accounting. Paul was a life-long member of the Putnam Lodge of Elks #574. Paul is also survived by three brothers Henry of Brooklyn, Raymond of Dayville, Norman of Louisville, KY; sister-in-law Jean Fisher; great niece Laura Fisher Andersen and her family; lifelong friends Benny and Anne Auger and their family; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Sylvio Jr. and Robert Gauthier. Calling hours at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam, Wednesday, July 11th from 9:30 to 11:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. Burial in Grove Street Cemetery with military honors.
