Obituary of Elizabeth Vegiard

Elizabeth F. Vegiard of Woodstock Avenue. Putnam, died Sunday afternoon, May 20, 2007 at Westview Health Center in Dayville. She was the wife of the late Valmor Vegiard, he died in 1989. She was born July 3, 1911, in Northborough, MA, daughter of the late Alphonse and Catherine (Cassidy) Defocy.

She had made her home in Putnam since 1925. She was a secretary for Briere Plumbing in Putnam for over 20 years. She was a communicant of St Mary Church of the Visitation in Putnam. Elizabeth enjoyed playing the piano, organ, and playing cards with family and friends.

She leaves her brother-in-law Lawrence Vegiard of Woodstock, sister-in-law Blanche Cady Defocy of Putnam, several nieces, nephews, including Phyllis Defocy Trudeau and her husband Robert of Thompson, Constance Defocy Senecal and her husband Roland of Enfield, Martin Defocy and his wife Theresa of Hobe Sound, FL, Sandra Crouth and her husband Richard of Enfield, and great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers: Warren Defocy; Martin Joseph Defocy; sister Blanche Cassidy Dixon and niece Dorothy Dixon Daigle and nephew Harry "Dick" Dixon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11:00 am at ST Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam. Burial in St Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to St Mary School, 23 Marshall Street, Putnam, CT 06260. The Smith & Walker Funeral Home, Putnam, is in charge of arrangements.
