Obituary of Robert H. Murray

Robert H. Murray, 85, of Murdock Road, Pomfret, died unexpectedly Tuesday at his home. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Farrell) Murray, she died December 25, 1992. He was born August 8, 1921 in Putnam, son of James Harry and Jennie (Peterson) Murray. He had made his home in Pomfret all his life. He owned and operated the Pomfret Fuel Service for many years, with his son-in-law and grandson. He was an avid gardener. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and had a great love and respect for nature and the outdoors. He leaves his children: Robert E. Murray of Pomfret; Judith LaFreniere and her husband Stephen of Pomfret; his companion: Lorraine A. Marion of Dayville; his grandchildren: David LaFreniere; Diane Kelleher; Joanne Plummer; Robert E. Murray; John T. Murray; five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a dear friend Myrtle Armstrong. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Burial will be private in South Cemetery Pomfret.
