Obituary of Reverend George E. Lang

Reverend George E. Lang, 92, of Brooklyn, CT, died January 4, 2007 at the Pierce Memorial Baptist Home. He was the beloved husband of Ruby (Vanderlan) Lang, they were married Dec. 31, 1939 in Oneida, NY. Born September 20, 1914 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late George and Anna Lang. He had made his home in Thompson for over 32 years, moving to Brooklyn in 2001and since 1958 he has spent his summers with his family at their summer home in Rome, NY. He was a graduate of the Gordon Divinity School and Nyack Missionary College. He served as pastor in Baptist Churches in Somerville, MA, Fitchburg, MA, Cuba, NY and Elmira, NY and served for 16 years as a Field Counselor for the American Baptist Churches. He was a retired US Army Colonel serving as Chaplain; a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He leaves his wife Ruby of Brooklyn and son, Pete Lang of Lee Center, NY, a granddaughter and great grandson and a niece Barbara Schoka of Manahawkin,NJ. He was predeceased by a sister. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 1:00 PM at the Danielson Baptist Church, 247 Broad Street, Danielson, CT. A graveside service will be Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 1:00 PM in the Kirkland Cemetery, Kirkland Mills, N.Y.
