Obituary of Roland O. Bellerive

Roland O. Bellerive, 81, of Woodstock Avenue West, Putnam, CT, died Tuesday evening at the Westview Health Care in Dayville. He was the beloved husband of Gertrude (Durocher) Bellerive, they were married May 4, 1946 in ST Mary Church of the Visitation in Putnam. He was born March 20, 1925 in Watertown, son of the late Onesime and Evila (Duplessis) Bellerive. Roland was employed for over 47 years as an Accounting Clerk at the former Belding Hemmingway Mill in Putnam, he retired in 1990. He was a communicant of ST Mary Church of the Visitation. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, a Third Degree Knight with the Putnam 64 Cargill Council and a Fourth Degree Knight with the Assembly 114- Rt. Rev. Msgr. Jean C. Mathieau in Putnam, he served as treasurer at Cargill Council from 1962 to 1973 and was active with the Knights of Columbus for many years. He enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, working in his yard and caring for his family. In addition to his wife of sixty years, Gertrude, he leaves a son: Roland A. Bellerive and his wife Nancy of Attleboro, MA; grandchildren: Kim Durand and husband Gary of Thompson; Carrie Proulx and husband David of Thompson; Christopher Bellerive and wife Renee of Dudley, MA, great-grandchildren: Monique Mailloux and husband Jeffrey of Putnam; Alica Durand of Thompson; Gabrielle Durand of Thompson; Christina Proulx of Thompson; Alexandria Bellerive of Dudley, MA; Madison Bellerive of Dudley, MA: a great great grandson: Jacob Mailloux, several nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 am from the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at ST Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam. Calling hours will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home with the Fourth Degree Color Corps standing Wake Watch. Burial in ST Mary Cemetery, Putnam.
