Obituary of Roger "Chink" Sarette

Roger Chink Sarette, age 57 of River Road, Putnam, died unexpectedly Monday in the Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam. He was the husband of Teresa (Gilbert) Sarette, they were married November 27, 1971 in ST Mary Church of the Visitation, Putnam. He was born in Putnam on February 23, 1949, son of Claire (Jolicoeur) Sarette of Putnam and the late Gerard Sarette. He was a machinist working at Electric Boat and Wycoff Steel. His employment for the last three years was working with his son Eric at the Pineridge Country Club in North Oxford, MA, and the Putnam Country Club. He was the assistant golf coach of the 2005 Golf Team of Oxford High School. He also had coached many of Putnams youth sports. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He had made his home in Putnam all of his life, a communicant of ST Mary Church of the Visitation. In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves his children; Eric Sarette of Southbridge, MA; Renee Deichert and her husband Robert of Tolland, Michelle Sears and her husband Matthew of Carver, MA; Danielle Sarette of Putnam, his siblings; Maurice, Donald, Robert, Michael, and Anne Sarette, his grandchildren; Mackenzie, Cooper, Abigail, Ellie, William, and Steven, and nieces, nephews, aunts and an uncle. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a service at 3:00 PM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Gerard Sarette Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Putnam Savings Bank, P.O. Box 151, Putnam, CT 06260.
