Obituary of Bertha Myketyn

Bertha (Darosz) Myketyn, age 87, of Woodstock, formerly of Simsbury, died February 4, 2006. Bertha was born June 12, 1918 in Poland and came to this country with her family as a young girl. With a lot of hard work, she made a very good life for herself and family. Bertha met her husband, George, while he was working as a lifeguard at a local park, a year later they were married and started their life together in Simsbury. She was employed by Ensign Bickford until she retired. She leaves her family from Simsbury: her daughter and son -in- law, June and Ralph Palmer; granddaughter and grand son -in- law: Lisa and Roger Romanelli; great granddaughter: Danielle; great grandson: Anthony, who lit up her life as much as she did theirs. Her sisters: Josie of Newington; Sophia of Burlington; sister -in- law Betty of Woodstock; many nieces, nephews, wonderful friends and neighbors. The love of her faith and her family, her wisdom and her laugh, will be missed dearly by her family and friends. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Benson Flugel Post 111, of Woodstock. She had made her home in Woodstock for over 30 years and was a communicant of Most Holy Trinity Church in Pomfret. Bertha has passed to join her predeceased friends and family. Her parents: Michael and Mary Darosz; brother: John; sisters: Katherine and Anna. Special thanks to Ann & Arthur, Marie, Robert and Judy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2006, at 10:30 am at Most Holy Trinity Church, Routes 169 and 44, Pomfret. Burial in Quassett Cemetery. No calling hours.
