Obituary of Carol Jeanie" Normington

Carol Jeanie Normington, 57 of Vine Street, Putnam, died Thursday with her family at her side at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam after a 12 year battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of John W. Normington, Jr., they were married October 15, 1983. She was born August 31, 1947 in Brockton, MA, daughter of the late Elmer R. and Elizabeth I. (Stewart) Joslin. She worked for the last twelve years as a Customer Service Representative for Bacou-Dalloz in Smithfield, RI. She has made her home in Putnam most of her life, a 1965 graduate of Putnam High School. Jeanie was an active and dedicated member of the Congregational Church of Putnam, serving on numerous committees and boards. She also was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Jessamine Chapter #58 and Danielson Chapter #77 and was a Past Matron. She was the Past Grand Representative of the Grand Chapter of Connecticut to New Jersey. She was caring and loving person with a big heart and enjoyed reading, flower gardening and was the family photographer. She leaves in addition to her husband a brother: Stewart Joslin of Tolland, a sister: Eleanor Wentworth and her husband Ronald of Woodstock, a step-son: John Normington, III and his wife Kimberly of Brooklyn, grandchildren: Samantha and Dawson Normington, and several nieces and nephews, she was predeceased by a brother: Robert Joslin in 1995. The funeral service will be Sunday June 5th at 2:00 PM in the Congregational Church of Putnam, 175 Main Street, Putnam. Burial in East Thompson Cemetery, East Thompson. Calling hours will be Saturday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT, with an Eastern Star Service at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jeanies memory to the Joslin Organ Fund c/o The Congregational Church of Putnam, P.O. Box 463, Putnam, CT 06260.
