Obituary of Maureen K. Gunter

Maureen K. Gunter, age 36, of Chapman Street, Putnam, died unexpectedly Friday morning at home. She was the beloved wife of Peter Ortiz. She was born March 13, 1969 in Arlington, MA, daughter of the late Charles and Patricia (Ridge) McLaughlin. She was a mortgage processor working for First Eastern Mortgage in Norwich. She received an associates degree from Quinebaug Valley Community College. She has made her home in Putnam for several years. She was a loving mother that always had time for her family. She leaves in addition to her husband, a daughter: Danielle Gunter; three sons: Ryan Gunter; Pedro Ortiz; Israel Ortiz all of Putnam. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam; a Memorial Mass will be Saturday at 10:30 AM in ST Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 238 West Town Street, Norwich, CT 06360.
