Obituary of Roger L. Normand

Roger L. Normand, 82 of Red Cedar Road, Woodstock Valley, CT formerly of Putnam, died Thursday morning at the Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was the husband of the late Jeannette (Brown) Normand, she died July 1, 2003. He was born in New Bedford, MA, June 22, 1922, Son of the late Louis and Marie ( Rousseau) Normand. He has made his home in Putnam most of his life, moving to Woodstock Valley six months ago. He was employed at Pratt and Whitney Air Craft in East Hartford for 31 years, retiring in 1983. He was a veteran of WWII Serving with the U S Army, he received the American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Service Stars and 2 Overseas Bars and World War Two Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged October 28, 1945. Roger was a member of the Putnam VFW #1523 and was a member of the VFW Drum and Bugle Corp. He had attended ST Mary School and Putnam High School. He enjoyed watching War movies and Westerns and spending time with his grandchildren. He leaves a daughter Deborah Favreau and her husband, Gregory of Woodstock Valley; two step daughters Christine Lacroix and her husband Ronald of Pomfret; Betty Jean Baker and her husband Newell of Brooklyn; three grandchildren - Rebecca Favreau of Woodstock: Ronald LaCroix of Griswold; Jeffrey LaCroix of Thompson; two great grandchildren - Austin and Logan LaCroix of Griswold. He was predeceased by a brother Leo Normand. Funeral will be Monday at 9:30 AM from the Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Sacred Heart Church, Thompson Road, West Thompson. Calling hours Sunday from 6:00 to 9:00PM at the Funeral Home. Burial in Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam with Military Honors.
