Obituary of Mary T. Babbitt

Mary T. Babbitt, 66, of Brooklyn, CT, formerly of Moosup, died Friday, Febraury 26, 2010 at the UMass Memorial Healthcare in Worcester, MA. She was born April 4, 1943 in Brownfield, Maine, daughter of the late John and Diantha A. (Anthony) Stearns. She was the wife of the late John Babbitt. She had made her home in Brooklyn for the last ten years, formerly of Moosup. Mary owned and operated a restaurant with her husband in Moosup in the 1970's for several years. She had worked as a Seamstress in area textile companies. She was also active with her husband with the Kokomo Clowns, she made many costumes. She was active with the Yankee Yesteryear Car Club, had served as club treasurer and program chair person. As a child she worked with her father in the logging and pulp business, she had a great knowledge of the spices of trees and the forest. She was an exceptional cook and baker, she was well known to many for her apple pies. She leaves her companion of ten years, Paul Duval of Brooklyn, CT, her siblings: John Stearns, III of Brownfield, Maine; Diane Hartford of Sterling, CT; Sandra McCubney of Porter, Maine; Francis Jones of Moosup, CT and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in her memory to the Day Kimball Hospital, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.
