Obituary of Bernard E. Mitchell

Bernard E. Mitchell "Bon Homme", age 89, of Putnam Pike, Dayville, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam. He was the husband of the late Theresa (Chausse) Mitchell, she died February 14, 2007. He was born February 18, 1921 in Pascoag, RI, son of the late Clifford and Clara (Green) Mitchell. He worked in the laundry business for many years, twenty seven years at the former Mailhot Cleaners in Danielson and also worked in area textile mills. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the U S Army, served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and Japan. He was honorably discharged February 3, 1946. He leaves his sons: Bernard G. and his wife Carol Mitchell of Dayville; Lucien H. Mitchell, Sr. and his wife Kathy of Plainfield; Ronald C. Mitchell and his wife Marilyn of Killingly; grandchildren: Melissa Mitchell; Aaron Mitchell; Ashley Mitchell; Lucien Mitchell, Jr.; Cory Mitchell; Chad Mitchell; Ross Dapsis; Toby Sharkey; Kevin Gaugh; Michael Gaugh, nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Earl Mitchell. Funeral will be Thursday at 10:15 AM from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 350 Hartford Pike, Dayville. Calling hours are Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, April 24, 2010 at 11:00 AM with Military Honors.
