Gladys L. Paine (Tunnie) 81 of Pomfret, died Thursday at the Regency Heights Nursing Home in Danielson. Born September 24, 1928 in Abington, daughter of the late Frank R. and Gladys (Hall) Paine. She leaves her son Gary Paine of Pomfret Center, granddaughter Lindsay Paine and her partner Walter Gardner of Pomfret Center, Josie Paine-Thurlow and her husband Kevin of Pomfret Center, Alison Paine of Charlotte, NC; Jessie Paine and partner Steven Livernoche of Webster, MA, sisters Mildred Seifert of Reading, MA; Ruth Seifert of Pomfret Center; Emma Ellsworth and husband Robert of Pomfret Center; Lois Molnar of Ashford, sister-in-law Joyce Paine of Pomfret Center and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her Daughter-in-Law Linda (Schulz) Paine, Brothers Howard Paine, Frank Paine, Jr, Maurice Paine and Oliver Paine. She lived in Pomfret her entire life until October 2009 taking residence at the Regency Heights. She was a graduate of the Ellis Technical School majoring in Hairdressing and Cosmetology, and owned and operated Abington Beauty Salon for many years until retiring in 1996. Her hobbies and interests included sewing and needlework. She especially enjoyed making clothing for her grandchildren. Funeral Service will be Sunday at 1:00 PM the Abington Congregational Church, Abington (Pomfret), CT. Calling hours Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home 148 Grove Street, Putnam. Burial in the spring in Abington Cemetery.
