Obituary of Jane A. Johnson

Jane A. (White) Johnson, 66, of Thompson, beloved wife of David E. Johnson, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 18, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a member of the Woodstock Evangelical Covenant Church where she sang in the choir and served on the Women's Board. Jane enjoyed leading her Flock Group and other neighborhood Bible studies in her home throughout the years. She was an elementary school teacher serving in Thompson and Putnam for many years, retiring in 2003. Jane had a strong interest in archeology and served as secretary of the Early Sites Research Society, based in Rowley, Mass. In addition, she served on the Board of Directors of the Thompson Historical Society where she developed and coordinated a field trip to acquaint second grade students with the historical aspects of Thompson. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Jane was the daughter of the late Elmer M. and Geneva (Cross) White. She is survived by her husband David and their children Lars Johnson and his wife Debra, Ragnar Johnson and his wife Kristen, along with four grandchildren: Cole, Rori, Kristine, and Eric; a brother Justin C. White, a sister Sarah F. White and her mother. She was predeceased by a grandson Jack. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jane's family on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 2:00 pm in the Evangelical Covenant Church, 24 Child Hill Road, Woodstock, CT.
