Helen R. Mayotte, 92, of Wilkinson Street, Putnam, died Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Matulaitis Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Ernest Mayotte. They were married September 1, 1941 in ST Mary Church, he died in February 2, 2005. She was born May 20, 1917 in Willimantic, daughter of Alfred and Dorilla (Lamiotte) Plante. She had made her home in Putnam most of her life, a communicant of ST Mary Church of the Visitation. She was employed at Belding Hemingway Co. in Putnam for many years. Helen was an avid gardener and especially enjoyed her flowers, and knitting and crocheting. She leaves a son Roger Mayotte and his wife Marlene of Lyme, three granddaughters: Ann Marie Gustavson of Putnam; Carrie Boyles of Mellenville, NY; Beth Ganiere of Berwick, ME; seven great grandchildren: Abe Gustavson; Ben Gustavson; Mark Boyles; Keith Boyles; Gabrielle Ganiere; Celine Ganiere; Holden Ganiere; a sister: Lena Racette, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Theresa (Mayotte) Wheaton in 1997. A calling hour will be Monday, September 28, 2009 from 9:30 to 10:15 AM at the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM, at ST Mary Church of the Visitation 218 Providence Street, Putnam. Burial in ST Mary Cemetery, Putnam. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to ST Mary Church, 218 Providence Street, Putnam, CT 06260.
