Obituary of Leon C. Gauthier

Danielson-Leon Chandler Gauthier, 83, of Main Street, Danielson, died Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Pierce Memorial Baptist Home in Brooklyn. Husband of 62 years of the late Madeleine E. Gauthier. Born August 8, 1925 in Killingly, at the home of his parents, Lionel J. and Lila Gauthier. He owned and operated Gauthier Insurance Agency in Danielson from 1962 to 1988 when it was transferred to his son Bradford C. Gauthier. A graduate of Killingly High School, "Class of 1943", later attended Norwich University and graduated from New York Insurance Institute. He served two and a half years in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was very active in civic affairs during his lifetime, which included Chairman of the Killingly Board of Education and President of the Borough of Danielson, life memberships in the Danielson VFW, Elks, and American Legion, active in the UCT organization. In 1952 he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Jaycees for the State of CT and a member of the Westfield Congregational Church. He leaves his son: Bradford C. Gauthier and his wife Arlene of Danielson, his daughter: Blair Mondor and her husband Robert of Danielson; two grandchildren: Bradford C. Gauthier, II; Graham T. Gauthier, and a great grandson, Owen Gauthier of Danielson. Funeral Services are private. No calling hours. Donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one's choice.
