Obituary of Henry E. Chabot

Henry E. Chabot, 94 of Wauregan, CT passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT. He was born February 10, 1929 in Wauregan, CT, son of the late Ely and Yvonne (Poirier) Chabot. 

He was brought up on Elm Crest Farm in Wauregan. Henry served 23 years in the Unites States Air Force as a hydraulic tech, stationed in Germany, U.S. and Thailand. In Germany he met and married his first wife Maria Rest she passed away in 1995. Henry loved to fly and a few years after retiring from the Air Force he started to charter flights and instructing at Windham Airport. In 2002 he married Deborah Woodward Bastien, who survives him. He spent every winter in Belleview, FL which he very much looked forward to.

He was a lifetime member of Atwood hose Fire Co, VFW and a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Danielson Elks and the Loyal order of Moose. Henry enjoyed hunting especially in Germany. He was an avid golfer and a singer.

Besides his wife Deborah, he leaves his son Vincent (Roswitha) Chabot; his sister Louise (Richard) Joly; his grandchildren Christopher Chabot and Katrina Chabot; his great grandchildren Devin Smith and Teagen Chabot. Also Debby’s three daughters and many nieces and nephews in the US and in Germany. He was predeceased by his brothers Arthur and Raymond; his sisters Priscilla Moscone and Vivien Le’ Toile.

Calling Hours will be Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT.
