Obituary of George A. Becia
George A. Becia 81 of Bonosconi Dr, Putnam. Died peacefully Tuesday evening surrounded by his family. Husband of Antoinette D. (Renaud) Becia, they were married July 24, 1943. Born September 30, 1922 in Central Falls, RI, son of the late George and Flora (Laflamme) Becia.
He retired from the Housekeeping Department at Day Kimball Hospital, after 22 years. He was a Army Veteran serving with the 65th Infantry Division, he was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and The World War II Victory Medal. He was inducted in the Army November 29, 1944 and was honorable Discharged on August, 1946 at the rank of Technician Fifth Grade. He made his home in Putnam all his life, a communicant of ST Mary Church of The Visitation in Putnam. A member of the Putnam Veterans of Forgian Wars and the Putnam American Legion, he was a from member of the Knights of Columbus.
He leaves in addition to his wife three daughters: Sandra Becia of Putnam; Donna Ploskonka of Danielson; Lynn Peckham of Putnam; A sister: Natalie Goudreau of Sturbridge, MA; four grandchildren: Jason and Ploskonka and Caleb and Seth Peckham. Several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private. Donation may be made in his memory to ST Mary School Development Fund, 23 Marshall Street, Putnam, CT 06260. The Smith & Walker Funeral Home, Putnam is in charges of the arrangements.
