Obituary of Claire M. Bradley

Claire Margarete Bradley, 91, of Putnam, CT and Dade City, FL passed over on April 4, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Living Center, Windham. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Leland Shaw Bradley who passed in 2013. They were married June 24, 1943 in Columbus, OH. She was born April 17, 1925 in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Robitaille and Germaine (Tetreault) Robitaille. She leaves a daughter Cynthia Mildred Bradley and her partner Brian of Pomfret Center and a son Leland John Bradley and his wife Colleen of Uncasville, CT. She also leaves four grandchildren James Michael Bradley and his wife Kenna of Putnam, Jessica Lee Gates and her husband Gregory of Plainfield, Matthew Alden Bradley and his wife Jennifer of Pomfret and Joanne Lee Rawson and her husband Benjamin of Thompson, as well as seven great-grandchildren and two nephews and a niece. She was predeceased by her brother Edgar (Pete) Robitaille and his wife Elizabeth. Claire was a graduate of Putnam Catholic Academy. She was employed by the Connecticut State Department of Motor Vehicles as an examiner. After retiring in 1982 she and her husband were very active in the Airstream Trailer/RV Club in which they were officers. They traveled to every state including an eight week stay in Alaska. Their travels took them throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America as well as several lengthy trips to the British Isles. For six weeks they toured ten European countries. They spent their winters in Dade City Florida and summers in Brewster on Cape Cod. She was a member of the Aspinock Historical Society of Putnam. She loved music and was a student of the lowery Organ. She was also an accomplished artist and had received numerous awards for her works. Calling Hours will be Tuesday, April 11 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 12 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam, followed by burial at Grove Street Cemetery, Putnam, CT.
