Obituary of Eleanor E. Brown

Dayville – Eleanor E. (Miner) Brown, 95, a 75 year resident of Alexander’s Lake, and the first lady of Dog Hill, died on April 26, 2016, with family by her side. Eleanor (known to her friends as Edith, Edie, Bird and Ella) was born on November 1, 1920 in Pomfret, CT. She was the last remaining sibling of twelve children born to Walter and Mabel (Lanning) Miner. Eleanor was married for 46 years to the late James Caffrey Brown. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Dayville. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, she always had a great smile and most of all was adored by all that knew her. Eleanor is survived by her two children, Colleen Hannifan of Boca Raton, FL., and Kevin J. Brown, and his wife Cheryl of Willington, CT. Five cherished grandchildren, James T. Hannifan and his wife Jennifer, Kathleen M. Hannifan, both of Boca Raton, FL., Ethan J. Brown and his partner Jennifer Brooks of Portland, OR., Jason A. Brown and his wife Jessie, of Canton, CT. and Colin J. Brown, of Willington, CT. Also surviving is a dear sister-in-law, Helen Miner, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son-in-law, John T. Hannifan, and great grandson, J.P. DeLisle. A special thank you to caregivers, Wendy, Jody and Misty. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, April 29, 2016 at St. Joseph Church, 350 Hartford Pike, Dayville. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. No calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the KB Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 209, Killingly, CT 06239.
