Obituary of Lorraine Theresa Zavorskas

Lorraine Theresa (Dumont) Zavorskas, of Brooklyn, passed away on April 13, 2010 after fighting a short, but valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband of forty three plus years, Thomas Zavorskas of Brooklyn, CT; two sons and daughters-in-law; Todd & Kellam Zavorskas of Bridgeport, CT; Craig & Lee Zavorskas of Rochester, NH; six loving grandchildren; Zachary, Luke, Colin, Brandon, Roman & Christian, sisters and brothers: Jeanine LaRue and her husband David of Richmond, VA; Margaret Stafford and her husband William of Southington, CT; Linda Giovanazzo of Bristol, CT; Janet Vine and her husband Robert of Arvada, CO; David Rioux and his wife Michelle of Eagle, ID and Don Rioux and his wife Becky of Lakeland, FL, brothers-in-law: Robert Zavorskas and his wife Joyce of Orleans, MA and Donald Zavorskas and his wife Darcy of Clinton, CT, fourteen nieces and nephews. Lorraine was born in Bristol, CT on October 5, 1943 and was predeceased by parents Laurent & Marie "Rena" Dumont and stepfather, Clovis Rioux. She attended St. Anne's Parochial School and St. Anthony's High School in Bristol. She worked at Connecticut General Life Insurance Company in Bloomfield, CT for several years before embarking in 1967 on a twenty plus year adventure as a military wife. The couple moved to Brooklyn in 1987 after Tom retired from the USAF. While in Brooklyn, Lorraine worked several years at the Town Hall as Assistant Tax Collector. Over the recent years, she and Tom established an antiques and collectibles business, "Cobweb Corner", and traveled throughout the East Coast and Midwest displaying and selling their wares at antique shows. Lorraine was also very active as a dealer in the Antiques Marketplace in Putnam, CT. Calling hours Friday, April 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Danielson, CT and Saturday, April 17 from 8:30 to 9:30 AM followed by a procession from the funeral home to St. James Church, 12 Franklin St, Danielson for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations in memory of Lorraine be sent to St. Joseph's Living Center, 14 Club Road, Windham, CT 06280.
