Obituary of Maurice J. St. Jean

Maurice J. St. Jean, 87, of Proulx Street, Brooklyn, died Friday, January 15, 2010 evening at the Matulaitis Nursing Home. Beloved husband of Marguerite (Renaud) St. Jean, they were married November 23, 1946. He was born March 2, 1922 in Danielson, son of the late Victor and Victoria (Derosier) St. Jean.

He attended St. James School. Upon completion of his education he joined the CC Corp and then joined the US Army in 1942. He was a Veteran of WWII and was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked in the card room at Wauregan Mills and in 1947 went to Arrow-Hart working in shipping and receiving. He retired in 1982 after almost 40 years. He was a communicant of St. James Church, a former member of the VFW and a thirty year member of the East Brooklyn Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid reader of mysteries.

He leaves his wife Marguerite, a son Arthur St. Jean and his wife Linda of Woodstock, four daughters: Mary Corey of Danielson; Leona Mainville and her husband Gerald of Brooklyn; Gail St. Jean of Brooklyn; Doreen Berube and her husband Ronald of Danielson; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Staff of Matulaitis Nursing Home for their compassionate care for the last four years.

The Funeral will be Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 9:15 AM from the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson. Calling Hours will be Monday, January 18, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson.
