Dorothy I. Rice, 95 of Woodstock, formerly of Brooklyn, died Tuesday at the Westview Health Care Center in Dayville. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles Frank Rice, he died in 1994. She was born January 21, 1914 in East Hartford, CT daughter of the late Hiram and Bertha May (Tyler) Colburn. She had made her home on Bailey Street in Brooklyn for over 34 years, she had also made her home in Sebago Lake in Maine and ST Petersburg, FL moving to Woodstock in 1990. Dorothy and her husband owned and operated the Woodlawn Country Club in Brooklyn; now known as Brooklyn Country Club. She was predeceased by her sister Marjorie. A Graveside Service will be Friday, November 27, 2009 at 1:00 PM in Mansfield Center Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Mansfield, CT, with the Rev. Susan Foster officiating. The Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, CT is charge of the arrangements.
