Obituary of Henry Misiaszek

Henry Misiaszek, 88 formerly of School Street, Putnam, died Monday, November 23, 2009 at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. He was the husband of Cecelia (Strycharz) Misiaszek; she died in 1967. He was born October 29, 1921 in Putnam, son of the late Martin and Apolonia Misiaszek. He worked as a carpenter several years and worked fifteen years for the Town of Putnam Water and Sewer Department. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Marine Corps and participated in action against the enemy at Bougainville and Guam and Marianas Islands, he was honorably discharged November 1954. He has made his home in Putnam most of his life, a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation in Putnam. He was a member of the VFW Post 1523 in Putnam and a former member of the Putnam Lodge of Elks. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying baseball, football, basketball and fishing. He enjoyed working in his gardens. He leaves his daughter: Karen Thompson and her husband David of Brooklyn; two nephews and a niece. He was predeceased by a son: John Misiaszek, brothers, Fred Misiaszek and Chester Misiaszek. Funeral will be Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11:15 AM from the Smith and Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove Street, Putnam, followed by a 12:00 PM (Noon) Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church of The Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam. Calling Hours will be Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Burial with Military Honors in St. Mary Cemetery, Putnam. www.smithandwalkerfh.com
