Obituary of George Joseph Quirk, Jr.

George Joseph Quirk, Jr. 79 of Ashford CT, died January 12, 2026 at home. He was the beloved husband of NormaJean (Shippee) Quirk.  He was born January 11, 1947 in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late George J. and Evelyn O. (Ferreira) Quirk, Jr.

He was a very proud Vietnam Army Veteran. George worked for the state of Connecticut for 33 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, was a lifelong member of the Eastern CT Sportsman’s Club and an all-around outdoorsman.

He leaves his wife NormaJean Quirk of 56 years, his two sons Troy Joseph Quirk, and his wife, Anna of Coventry CT and Patrick George Quirk of Vernon CT, his granddaughter Samantha, T Quirk Boccacio and husband Vince of Eastford, CT, his great grandsons, Vincent and Nathan. He also leaves his brother William M. Quirk of NH and sister Yvonne Phaneuf of Ashford, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be January 24, 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Woodward Cemetery in Ashford, CT.
