Obituary of Rita D. Knapp

Rita D. Knapp, 91, of Brooklyn, CT, passed away April 3, 2025 at Pierce Memorial Baptist Home in Brooklyn, CT. Born November 26, 1933 at home in East Thompson, CT, daughter of the late Arthur and Doris (Blain) Lamirande. She married the late Arthur D. Knapp at the Church of the Five Wounds on April 25, 1953 in Ballouville, CT.

Rita was a Communicant of St. James Church. She worked at Electric Motive – Arrow – Hart and retried from Garrity Industries. Rita was an avid NASCAR fan and loved her soap operas and sitting on her porch.

She leaves her daughters Donna (Harold) Goss and Jo Ann Rainville; her grandchildren Richard (Alisha) Goss, Michael Rainville and Rebecca Goss; her great grandchildren William Melnick, Jonathan Melnick and Jay Robinson; her step grandchildren Nell (Goss) Aubin and Steven (JoAnne) Rainville, Jr.; her brother in law Raymond (Nancy) Knapp and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son in law Steven Rainville. A special thanks to Phyllis Morrison for all the time you spent with her and also to the excellent care she received from the nurses and CNAS at Pierce Memorial Baptist Home.

A calling hour will be Tuesday, April 8, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at St. James Church, 12 Franklin Street, Danielson, CT. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Danielson, CT.
