Obituary of Irene A. Crabtree

Irene A. Crabtree, 99, of Putnam, CT passed away March 31, 2025 at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam, CT. She was born on July 27, 1925 in Putnam, CT, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Dufault) Niles. Irene was the loving wife of the late Walter R. Crabtree, Sr.  

Irene was a Communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation in Putnam, CT. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Ladies of St. Anne and the National Council of Catholic Women. Irene enjoyed volunteering for the Red Cross Blood Bank, at Day Kimball Hospital in the Development Office and would help cook at the soup kitchen pealing 10 pounds of carrots. She was an officer at Putnam Savings Bank serving as Assistant Secretary. Irene loved her family events and to travel. She was a very sweet lady and would give people rides to doctor appointments.

She leaves her children Gail Daigle (Gil) of Washington, Elizabeth Delhaie (Richard) of Darien, GA, Joan Carter (Vance) of Danielson, CT and Peter Crabtree (Susan) of Taylors, SC; her 14 grandchildren; her 32 great grandchildren; her 2 great great granddaughters; her daughter in law  Denise Crabtree; her son in law Jerry Beausoleil and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her children Walter R. Crabtree, Jr. and Susan Beausoleil; her grandson Andrew Crabtree and her siblings Laura Parziale, Rita Stahecki and Arthur Niles.
