Obituary of Jeffrey T. Richmond
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jeffery Thomas Richmond, age 52, who passed away unexpectedly in his home in Eastford, CT on Sunday March 16th, 2025. He was known for his attention to detail, which certainly showed in his incredible talent as a woodworker.
Jeff was born July 18th, 1972 in Putnam CT. He leaves his wife Lorna (Chaffee) Richmond after 30 years of marriage, and his two children Gregory Richmond and Amber Richmond, his parents Thomas and Karen (Sorel) Richmond, his sister and brother-in-law, John and Jennifer (Richmond) Fahey and his nieces Callista and Julianna. He also leaves his step-grandmother Sandy, aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins who will miss him deeply.
Jeff always shared memories of working on the family farm. Later he worked at Loos & Co. for 25 years, finishing his time there as the Quality Manager. He moved on to United Lens Company and TTM Technologies, making many friends wherever he worked. Although he was very successful in his career, his true aspiration was making beautiful woodworking projects through his side business, Richmond Woodworks. Anyone who has one of his creations will treasure it for years to come.
He had quite the collection of tools that he spent time restoring and caring for. He was always keeping an eye out on marketplace for the next tool he couldn’t refuse. He enjoyed going to the movies to see the latest Marvel or Star Wars film, or making popcorn at night to watch them at home. Making chili that everyone enjoyed made him happy, along with growing peppers – the hotter the better.
Jeff preferred to spend vacation at home, working on projects around the house with his wife, more commonly known as his right hand, working by his side. He loved being around his family and loved living so close to them, always just a short drive away. He checked in through text messages to keep an eye on everyone, those will be missed. He loved his kids. He loved working on cars or target practice with Gregory. He loved listening to Amber sing and working on her next big idea. He was so proud of them. He also had a big place in his heart for all of his grand dogs.
A memorial service will be held Saturday March 29th, 2025 at 2:00pm at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 200 Tracy Road, Dayville, CT 06241. A reception to follow at a separate location. Share a memory at Smithandwalkerfh.com
